#159 Cool Thing: Sharks Teeth Fossils – yes, in Toole County

The best time to find sharks teeth is after a rain, when the soil has washed away from the fossils.  The picture has several shark’s teeth, but there are other teeth, in the box.  Sharks teeth are usually black and gray in color, depending on the sediment surrounding them.  I have never found any of these treasures, and don’t know if I’d have the patience to look for these tiny, little teeth; but they can be found in Toole County.  Some teeth are preserved from hundreds of millions of years ago, but the most common are from only about 65 million years ago, when sharks were swimming around Toole County.  The other picture shows a great find…bet you can find the sharks tooth in the rock (A little like ‘Where’s Waldo?’) but you will see it.  Happy hunting!
